Zabar Refuah operates a dedicated system nationwide that provides the full range of palliative care in the patient’s home. The service is provided to patients of all ages, with full staff availability all year round, to provide care and support to the patient and family members. Home hospice service is provided by Zabar Medicine fully funded by the HMOs to the HMOs insured in the arrangement. Patients not included in the arrangement can receive the service privately.

What does palliative care at home include?
If your dear one is coping with a terminal illness in its advanced stages, it is important that you know that he has the right to receive supportive palliative care at home, as well as a full treatment program for the illness at home. The service is provided by the HMO, in accordance with Israeli law, such that neither you nor your dear one will be required to pay for it. The law states that you and your dear one can choose should you wish to receive home palliative care.
Within 24 hours of acceptance of the Sabar Health service, a professional team will be assigned to you, including a doctor, nurse and a social workder, who will conduct a visit to receive you. Following a full medical examination, a personal treatment program will be devised for your dear one, and from that moment on, the team assigned to you will accompany you and your dear one for the entire duration of treatment. medical and social care required, as well as to assist you in all emotional and bureaucratic aspects connected with taking care of them.

How can we get Sabra Medicine’s home hospice service?
If the patient is in the hospital, you should contact the HMO representative at the hospital and ask to come to the home hospice of Zabar Medicine. If the patient is at home, you should see your family doctor to get a referral to a home hospice. The referral will be forwarded by the doctor to the HMO’s home care unit, and through this unit you will be able to receive the referral to our service. It is important for you to know – the law in the State of Israel requires the health funds to provide palliative care that supports full availability 24/7 to every person who has a serious illness and is in the final stages of his life.
What happens if I need urgent help?
In any case of distress, we are available to you 24/7 including on weekends and holidays. The nurses will leave you their mobile phone number and another phone number of standby during the weekend. For backup, we have a call center active 24/7 all year round for any need.
My dad is still getting chemotherapy. Can we get your service at the same time?
