Home Hospice service is provided free of charge to "Meuhedet" patients, "Clalit" patients in designated districts. The service is also provided on a fee basis to private patients.
A survey carried out by the Israel Cancer Association found that 65% of the public would prefer to stay at home, with regular visits by a doctor/nurse, if they were to have a terminal illness. In professional terms, this is called home hospice.
As apart of our mission to provide our community with the most comprehensive medical care possible, the Sabar Clinic offers home hospice services. We accompany terminally ill patients who choose to spend their remaining days in comfort and with dignity at home rather than at a hospital. We provide quality supportive care and pain relief for those who can no longer benefit from curative treatment.
Our dedicated staff includes physicians, nurses and social workers, who are experienced with palliative (supporting rather than curing) care for the patient and their family.
We address both the physical and emotional needs of our patients and provide them with compassionate care. Our medical team gets to know the patient and their main caregivers and raises issues for open discussion in order to best suit the treatment to the specific needs of the patient and their family and provide quality health care.
Our supportive care concentrates on relieving symptoms such as pain, depression, anxiety, shortness of breath, lack of appetite, nausea, vomiting, constipation and pressure sores.
As part of the service we visit the patient a number of times a week and are on call 24 hours a day.We are also obligated to reach the patient's home in a reasonable amount of time should an immediate or sudden need arise.
The presence of a 24-hour caregiver or relative who lives with the patient is a condition for our service.
